The Sacred Series_Jerusalem — Launching Sept 21, International Day of Peace & the Equinox
For the past ten years, I’ve carried this project in my body — testing it, refining it, questioning my own intentions, and holding it complete for over three years, waiting for the right moment. Eventually, at the rock bottom of my heart, I realised: if not now, then maybe never. And that was simply not an option. The issue of Women, life, freedom &safety is at the forefront of our crises and it needs to be said.
So… it goes LIVE in just a few days.
The Gaia Collection was simple: we come from the Earth and return to the Earth. But even then, I knew it was only half the story. As I wrestled with the taboo of nudity, the vision dropped in: what about the sacred spaces? Living in Israel, Jerusalem was a field of possibility. I had to try.
With the courage of 15 anonymous women, we stepped into my large-scale prints of sacred architecture. I painted their bodies back into stone and scripture. Brave, vulnerable, unflinching — we became part of the history that excluded us. We broke rules with our hearts wide open, standing for Woman. For Life. For Freedom. For Safety.
The outcomes are stunning, provocative, bold, and brave.
As for the date of launch - For years, I worked towards the International Day of Peace - I naively fell in love with the notion, but eventually realised it was mostly a parade of appeasement for Western ego, a balm for guilt that ignored the roots of discord and the ugly fact that oppression and war run 365 days of the year even with this lovely idea.
Yet the date still matters.
September 21 is The equinox — that fleeting period of equal day and night, when the slight discrepancy of hours that is key to the Sacred Balance, is met with stillness ...
That balance is at the heart of PEACE and this series. It is art, but it is also testimony. It is a reminder that women are still the most vulnerable, oppressed group on the planet — and that reclaiming our presence in the sacred, our voice in leadership and our force in the formation of society is a necessary part of restoring alignment in the cultures and systems of the world.
The Sacred Series pushes toward this balance — and it is also the seed of my upcoming book, The Sacred Balance. A weaving of story, physics, philosophy, and vision — soon to find its way into the world.
On September 21st, the series will finally be released online - one limited edition print for purchase available every day.
